What’s the role?

We’re hiring a managing editor with excellent taste and strong writing and editing skills to shape what we publish each day and run the systems that make daily publishing possible. Every is a daily newsletter with hands-on reviews of new AI models and first-person guides on how to use AI to build a better business and life. You love using AI in your editorial workflow, and know when and how to apply it to raise quality and increase output. You’ll edit select pieces yourself, coordinate a team of freelance editors who handle additional editing, and bring sharp ideas about what—and who—we should publish to serve our audience.

You’d be our go-to person for:

• Owning the daily publishing rhythm and deadlines
  • Ensure our pieces are assigned, edited, produced in the CMS, and ready for top edit and approval each day
  • Monitor progress throughout the day; anticipate issues; escalate or re-route work as needed
• Managing editing of daily articles
  • Edit select pieces yourself for structure, clarity, and style
  • Recruit, brief, and coordinate freelance editors who handle additional editing
  • Set scopes, timelines, and quality expectations; review and deliver feedback
  • Copy-edit and proofread to ensure accuracy and style adherence before top edit
• Implementing AI systems for editorial use
  • Run workflows that elevate quality and increase output while maintaining consistently high standards
  • Partner with the editor in chief to pilot, roll out, and refine these systems
• Partnering with writers and contributors
  • Provide clear, actionable feedback; help writers improve; foster a strong contributor experience
  • Source and develop new writers and contributors; generate and assign ideas for stories, formats, and editorial franchises
• Driving the editorial calendar
  • Plan, track, and adjust the calendar to meet goals and KPIs
  • Align coverage with strategic priorities
• Shaping presentation
  • Write headlines, decks, YouTube, and other display copy
  • Collaborate with our creative lead to create art for stories and columns
  • Produce pieces in our CMS for daily publication

This role is perfect for someone who’s:

• Strong in operational editing: You coordinate many moving parts and still publish on time
• Skilled in developmental and line editing, plus a practical eye for copy editing and proofreading
• Experienced managing freelance editors and giving clear, timely feedback
• Experienced working with AI-assisted editorial systems that elevate quality and increase output while maintaining consistently high standards (technical chops are helpful but not required)
• Has sound judgment about stories that fit an AI-forward audience
• Exercises clarity in communication, calm under deadline, and a bias for action
